This ritual invokes the enlightening influence of three female Buddha-figures – Sitatapatra (the “Umbrella” Goddess), Prajnaparamita, and the Lion-faced Dakini (Simhamukha) – to help overcome obstacles and dangers, such as when undertaking a long journey.
